"My journey started back in April of 2013. It all started when I was chasing my then 12 month old grandson when he learned how to walk/run. I quickly realized I was completely out of shape and needed a change. I was out of breath and had to stop playing with him just to catch my breath. Mind you, I was 42 at the time and that should not be happening. At that very moment, I decided I was going to do something about it. That something was, CROSSFIT!!!! I started my crossfit journey in May of 2013 and it has completely changed my life. Today, I feel like I am in my early 20’s! I am now a healthier person for my wife, my daughters, my grandsons as well for myself!!! My only regret, is not crossfitting sooner!!! I love CROSSFIT and my CROSSFIT RELIC FAMILY!!!"

I am not an athlete. When I first came to CrossFit Relic, I was very nervous because I had no experience, and very little knowledge of the work outs. The community welcomed me, and the coaches have been so patient and helpful. I truly feel encouraged and supported by everyone here. I'm also losing weight and building muscle, so I feel great and I'm gaining confidence. The atmosphere here is incredibly positive. These are sincerely the nicest people in Northwest Houston.
Even though I only go 2 times a week everyone tells me that they can see a difference! I didn't see any weight lose until month 3. I started at 277lbs w/ a 44in waist and now I'm down to 250lbs w/ a 38in waist!!! Not to mention all the cool looking muscle on my legs and upper body! But the best improvement of all was helping me with my lower back pain! Crossfit has helped me so much in many ways, both physically and mentally, it really has been the best decision I've made to help better myself all around.
As a socially awkward and out of shape person, joining a group gym seemed like something from a bad nightmare, but I wanted to do something effective to get into shape. I texted one of the Crossfit Relic instructors inquiring about joining and she treated my like a good friend and suggested a Saturday class. Within the first five minutes of arriving to class several people had introduced themselves to me and helped me with stretches. I immediately felt at ease. The workout was excellent and the instructors adjusted the workout to my abilities. After that Saturday class I was hooked. The instructors are incredibly encouraging, knowledgeable and welcoming. In two months (with the 2x per wk membership and moderate diet change) I have gone down two pant sizes and lost well over 20lbs. Crossfit, however, is much more than weight loss. The words "I'm tired" are no longer in my vocabulary, I have more than doubled my weightlifting maximums, and my post-shift back and knee pain have decreased significantly. I would suggest Crossfit Relic to anyone!
